WHY ENTER SPHERO STEM COMPETITION?
The Sphero Global Challenge is an exciting opportunity for students! Not only are students able to practice coding and problem solving skills, but they will also have the chance to build innovative thinking and collaboration skills. In the setting of a team challenge, students will use engineering design processes in an authentic way.
Elementary and Middle School STEM Competition
The Sphero Global Challenge is able to accomodate ages 7-14 in all of the competitions, making this a great STEM competition for beginners in elementary school or more intermediate STEM students in middle school.
STEM Competitions for Elementary School Students
In the 2020/2021 Sphero Global Challenge, all of our competitions welcome students as young as 7. This makes it great for elementary educators who are looking to introduce elementary students to STEM in an easy, blended learning fashion.
STEM Competition for Middle School Students
In the 2020/2021 Sphero Global Challenge, all of our competitions welcome students up to 14 years old. No matter the STEM skillset--from beginning to advanced--our competitions are built to educate and engage STEM students.
DREAM TEAMS ASSEMBLE
Getting a team started is easy! Coaches do not need to be programmers or educators to support students through the Sphero Global Challenge. Instead, act as a facilitator as students explore, solve problems, and unleash their creativity. Sphero will provide lessons and agendas for each challenge, as well as the support of fellow Coaches in the community forum. The Sphero Global Challenge works great as an after-school program, in a STEM or STEAM Club, as part of a science block during the school day, or even for students to work on at home.
Coaches can lead multiple teams, but how teams are structured is completely up to you. We recommend that an event group consists of up to five students. Teams can also be broken up into smaller event groups. This means that you can have one team of 15 students in event groups of five for each of the three events or you can take your after-school robotics club and have several teams complete just one event.
